About PDF Repair & Checker
When a PDF won't open, opens with pages missing, or shows errors in one app but not another, the cause is often a damaged file structure. The checker looks at the header and file ending, tries to draw each page, tests the cross-reference table, and reports extras such as forms, attachments, scripts and signatures. Then it writes a clean copy, or rebuilds the pages as a last resort.
How to use PDF Repair & Checker
- Click Browse and choose the PDF that won't open or shows errors. The check starts by itself.
- Read the results: pages, version, damaged pages and cross-reference table. Type the Password if one is asked for.
- Click Repair PDF to write a clean copy with a new cross-reference table, then download it.
- If pages are still broken, click Rebuild from pages to save every page that can be drawn as a picture.
How your data is handled
The PDF is checked and repaired in your browser and isn't uploaded. Nothing about the file, including a password if you type one, is sent to a server or stored.
Limits and accuracy
- Only the first 300 pages are test-drawn in very long files.
- Repairing rewrites the file, so any digital signature stops being valid.
- Repair needs the password removed first with PDF Unlock; Rebuild from pages accepts the password.
- Content missing from a cut-off file can't be recovered.

What can it fix?
Common structural faults, such as a broken or missing cross-reference table, a damaged object or a file cut off during download. Repair rewrites the structure without redrawing the pages. It can't bring back content that's missing from the file.
What's the difference between Repair and Rebuild?
Repair keeps the real pages, text and links and only rewrites how the file is organised. Rebuild from pages draws every page that still opens as a picture, which can rescue badly damaged files, but the text can no longer be selected.
Is my file uploaded to be checked?
No. Checking and repairing happen in your browser, so the PDF stays on your device. That matters for damaged statements, contracts and records you'd rather not send anywhere.
